40- Velame branco - Mandevilla velame (A.St.-Hil.) Pichon (APOCYNACEAE)
Sub-shrub plant, up to 50 cm tall, erect, with a woolly and white texture. Opposite sheets, with cardboard texture, from 4.5 to 6.5 × 2 to 3 cm, elliptical, pointed, with a smooth margin, densely white and with a wool texture. Inflorescence at the tip of the branches, having 2 to 6 flowers, with 10 to 13 cm each; of five fused petals, greenish-white corolla, very distinct, slightly wavy. It has latex. Flowering from September to May.
Distribution: Occurs from Goiás to Rio Grande do Sul, in open, dry cerrado, occasionally in the field or in gallery forests.
Situation in São Paulo: Apparently it exists only in the State Park of Juqueri.
How to plant: By seeds, which form inside horn-like fruits. Slow-growing plant, but of great beauty even when young.

Quando começamos o projeto achávamos que nunca teríamos esta espécie, tão rara na cidade. Na metrópole de São Paulo é encontrada apenas no Parque do Juqueri.
Hoje já começamos a pensar nisso, pois ao longo do tempo se desenvolveu um mercado de sementes, cada dia mais interessante.Logo tentaremos desenvolver algumas mudas, quem sabe reintroduzir no Cerrado Infinito bem no meio da malha urbana.
