Sub-shrub, up to 1.8 m high, very branched, full of curved spines. Composite leaves, from 23 to 44 leaflets from 6 to 12 × 1 to 2 mm; with thorns on the hairless top, hairy on the bottom of the leaves. Ear-like flower, 4 to 5 mm in diameter, rounded, in the leaf axilla, in light pink.

Distribution: In Brazil, it occurs in the states of Mato Grosso to Rio Grande do Sul, in cerrado, chaco, pantanal and on the edges of riparian forest.

Situation in São Paulo: Common in vacant lots and old fragments of cerrado, as well as on the side of roads.

How to plant: The best method is through seeds; they are born very easily and develop very quickly. Eventually, if you find small seedlings, you can do the transplant, keeping the root ball. Always plant in full sun.

Uses: Used as a hedge, as it forms massifs with the presence of hair and small thorns. Its leaves move to the touch, making it an interesting addition to gardens. Flowering widely visited by bees, delicate and ornamental. It forms lush clumps with the characteristic flowering of pink pompoms, which attracts many bees.
