Shrub plant with woody stem, very branched, angular and rust colored, reaching up to 2 m in height. Leaves simple, very rough and rough, opposite, oval to lanceolate in shape, with down on both sides. The inflorescences, in purple, start from the armpits and are characterized by small grouped flowers, all with five petals. Dark colored fleshy fruit.
Distribution: South, Southeast, Midwest (except Mato Grosso) and Northeast. Plant considered ruderal and harmful, invasive of pastures and cultivated fields of fruit and perennial crops.
Situation in São Paulo: It is not as common as Lantana camara, found occasionally in preserved fragments.
How to plant: Lanthanes reproduce easily by seeds; when the flower dries, fruit is formed in the form of balls, which contain the seeds - just bury and water. You can also cut a branch, remove all large leaves and place the base in a glass of water. Over the days, roots will develop and then just plant on the ground and continue watering until it turns out on its own. They are resistant plants, even to fire when well rooted.

Na Casa das Caldeiras o terreno tem sol pleno, o solo, apenas soterra restos de piso e concreto, ou seja não tem muita água, a raiz tem mais dificuldade de penetrar no solo. Mesmo assim ela fica continuamente florida!
No Cerrado Infinito da Nascente, as lantanas roxas, se reproduziram muito e se tornaram predominantes na paisagem. Os pássaros tem espalhado elas além da praça, encontrei um exemplar ja bem desenvolvido, a três quarteirões da praça, numa outra pequena área verde, do lado do metrô Vila Madalena.
